Religion

Here in Virginia most people are Protestant Christian. Protestants believe that the Bible is the sole infallible authority. Protestants also believe that it's their duty to take part in government and all public affairs. One more thing they beleive in is that if they do good deeds God will bless them.

While We're Gone...

We, the farmers, work long hours on the farm so we don't get to spend much time with our families. Since we're away from home so much we often rely on our wives and children to drain swamps, tend cattle, cultivate crops , and manage things while we're gone.

Indentured Servants

Today, about three-fourths of our population of English Colonists served a term of servitude. It's because most people who wanted to go to the New World couldn't afford to, so someone would pay for that person's trip. In order to pay off their dept, these people become slaves for a number of years. We call these people indentured servants.

Sadly, half of them died before their service was completed, one quarter remained poor afterward, and the other quarter achieved a degree of prosperity. After someone's debt is repayed they most likely work for the same person in order to get enouph money to buy their own land.
